Subject: Route 202 Traffic Pattern Change Next Week for Parkway Construction in Montgomery County
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on Monday (April 9) will shift Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) traffic over to the newly built section of pavement between Swedesford Road and Route 63 in Upper Gwynedd, Lower Gwynedd and Montgomery townships, Montgomery County as construction advances to widen the roadway to five lanes.
PennDOT is rebuilding and widening this stretch of Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) as part of the construction of the nine-mile long, $200 million state-funded Route 202 Parkway this is scheduled to open this fall.
Motorists traveling on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) may encounter intermittent lane closures and brief stoppages Monday (April 9) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews move traffic onto the newly-constructed pavement.
Following the traffic pattern shift, crews will begin to remove the old pavement and rebuild the west side of Route 202 (DeKalb Pike). This work will result in periodic lane closures on Tuesday through Friday (April 10-13) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lane closures also may be in place Monday through Friday (April 9-13) on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between Stump Road and North Wales Road for ongoing road widening and curb and sidewalk construction.
The installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components on the Route 202 overpass will require lane closures on the Route 611 Bypass in Doylestown Township, Bucks County, in the vicinity of the Route 202 interchange on Monday through Thursday (April 9-12) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
ITS installation also will require shoulder closures on the southbound Route 202 Bypass between East State Street and Route 611 and on the southbound Route 611 Bypass between Limekiln Road/North West Street and Route 202 on Monday through Thursday (April 9-12) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Drivers should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
