neighborhood news

Dear neighbors,
See the note below for a recommendation to replace your Gwynedd post office box. Thanks to Neil Daeubler for writing this up!

Carol:  I don't know if this would be of interest to neighbors forced to change post offices due to the closure of the Gwynedd office on Meetinghouse, but an alternative to Springhouse is Gwynedd Valley (next to the train station).  They have boxes available, their hours are quite convenient for both box access and window access, and although a new box number would be issued to transferees, the only other changes to an address would be Gwynedd Valley (instead of Gwynedd) and a zip code change to 19437.  FedEx and UPS deliver there daily, so there is the option of delivery to your home or delivery to the post office (using the P.O. box number).  Getting to/from Gwynedd Valley seems a bit quicker than Springhouse because there are no extra traffic lights or traffic to encounter.

We changed over a year ago when the Gwynedd office eliminated any weekend hours, which for working families made it impossible to get window service or even mail pick-up.  We've been very please with the service at Gwynedd Valley and found the change very pain-free!  Just an FYI...   Andrea and Neil

neighborhood news - post office

Dear neighbors,
See the note below from Bill Wanger and the attached letters regarding the closure of the Gwynedd Post Office.

Also, see this note I have copied from Gwen Douse regarding some progress on the 202 construction:

Dear Neighbors,
We received good news concerning the moving of utility poles and the effect on 202 construction, as well as the force main on Meetinghouse Road. Please see message below from Senator Greenleaf's office, as up-dated by PennDOT.
Best wishes,
Gwen Douse

Hi Gwen - I spoke to Brian and he told me the project is on schedule with the utilities at this point and barring any unforeseen issues (PECO outages that would pull their workers for repairs for example), he anticipates that work to be completed on time.   PECO's gas line is completed and there are utility poles on 202 that must be moved back. The utility companies are working on this.  The force main holdup issue has been worked out and that is now moving forward.

I hope this is helpful – let me know if you have any questions.

I'm sad to report that the U.S. Post Office has decided to close the Gwynedd Post Office, effective on May 28th.  See attached.
