neighborhood news

Dear neighbors,
1. See below for a note from Bill Wanger about the closing of the Gwynedd post office. Some people in the neighborhood have post office boxes there - this will be a big change. If you have an opinion, there will be a meeting held on March 3rd.

2. Eva O'Brien is looking for a This End Up brand desk or bookshelf or dresser or trundle. She is working to help a family in our school system. Please call her at 215-661-8764 if you have furniture to contribute. Thank you!

3. Please see the attached flyer about the annual progressive dinner on March 26. You should respond to Fran Margolis or the other emails listed if you can come. The format is new and different...please come out and reacquaint yourself with your neighbors! Not much cooking involved this time....just wine tasting and appetizers and dessert. Hope to see you there!

Subject: Item for Gwynedd Knoll Blog - Letter from USPS re Intended Closure of Gwynedd Post Office; Foulkeways Position
To: Gwynedd Knoll Blogger <gwyneddknoll@gmail.com>

Background:  As many of you know, the US Post Office issued a letter dated 2/15/2011, stating the intent of the USPS to close the Gwynedd Post Office (19436).  No timetable has been given.  If carried out, Post Office Box holders will need to move their boxes to the Spring House or another branch (although they can continue to use the "Gwynedd " designation as their mailing address).  A public meeting with postal representatives regarding the proposed closure is scheduled for 3/3/2011 at the LGT Building, from 6 - 7 p.m.  Please let me know if you want to see a copy of the USPS letter.

Foulkeways Position:  I have spoken with the CEO of Foulkeways about the matter.  As of this date, Foulkeways does not intend to oppose the closure (viewing it as inevitable).  FYI:  Foulkeways intends to convert the building that would have served as the relocated post office into visitor apartments.

Dear neighbors,
Please read the note below about a hit and run accident in the 'hood and let Bill know if you have any information. Also, see the picture note below about traffic delays this week on 202 and Welsh Rd. Seems never ending but it will have a good result in the end!

Have you signed up to attend the progressive dinner yet? Don't forget! February 26....

Thank you,

neighborhood news

p.s. My apologies if you got this note twice...the first time the flyer was too big in size for most servers so I am trying again with a smaller version.

Dear neighbors,
Snowy greetings to you! Hope you are all getting places safely with all these storms  - and getting your long driveways shoveled or plowed out easily! I had 3 very polite teenagers show up to do my driveway - they did a great job and it was nice to encourage kids to do work like that. Let's all watch out for neighbors who might need help with their driveways.

I have 2 items for you - one is the note below from Bill Wanger, a neighbor who is on the Republican committee for our township. He is looking for persons interested in serving on the school board. Please contact him directly if you are interested. He can answer all your questions!

Secondly, the annual Progressive dinner has been re-organized and will be held on March 26, 2011. Please see the attached flyer (in MS Word) for all the exciting details. I am happy to announce that I have passed the baton of coordinator to the team of Fran Margolis, Heather Forde, and Penny Zografakis. They have designed a really nice evening for you - please add the date to your calendars and come get reacquainted with your neighbors!  Please respond directly to any of their 3 emails listed on the flyer.

I am so grateful to have their help with the dinner.

"Think You Might be Interested in Serving on the Wissahickon School Board?

The Lower Gwynedd Township Republican Committee is interested in speaking with persons living in the Wissahickon School District who might have an interest in serving on the Wissahickon School Board.  If you think that you might be that person, that you know someone who might have an interest in serving, or that you or they have any questions (e.g., regarding the position, qualifications), please contact Bill Wanger, at wwanger@foxrothschild.com; at 610-397-6503; or by mail at 1321 Tanglewood Drive, Gwynedd, PA 19436-0444.  Nominating Petitions for the position are required to be circulated between February 15th and March 8th; so please give this matter your earliest attention."
