Date set for neighborhood meeting:

Dear neighbors,
As indicated in the email below from Larry Comunale, township manager, our meeting with the township and PennDOT has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 24 at 7 pm at the township building.  Topics include landscaping of the sound barrier (currently no plan in place for future maintenance-it is an eyesore!) and the impact of the 202 highway/safety issues/increased traffic flow (as evidenced  by 3 large 202 directional signs as you exit from Hancock) as well as any other related issues you want to discuss. Please send at least one adult representative from each household to this important meeting. Now is the time to voice our concerns to protect the aesthetics of our neighborhood, real estate value, and safety.
Thank you,
Gwen Douse

Hi Carol,

Here's the photo of the dog with a little description -

She's a brown/grey medium sized dog and was found on Tanglewood Drive around noon.  She's really sweet with a short tail but doesn't have a collar so I don't know who she belongs to.  She's safe here at my house on Lamplighter Lane! Please call my cell phone if you know who she might belong to.  Thanks!

neighborhood news

Dear neighbors,
Please see the notes below for an opportunity help support a neighbor teen in her worthy charity project and a recommendation of a piano teacher. Hope you can help with the project by donating some shoes for needy kids!

Hope all is well with your families in this new school year...hasn't the weather been wonderful? (:

Dear neighbors,

Many children in the Philadelphia area are in desperate need of shoes for the school year. As a runner, I know that good shoes are essential to being physically fit and to participating in athletic activities. Therefore, as part of my bar-mitzvah project, I am hosting a drive on behalf of Cradles to Crayons (C2C) to collect athletic shoes and other shoes for these children.

Cradles to Crayons is a local charity that provides everyday essentials, warm clothes, shoes, books, and school supplies to homeless and low-income children in the Philadelphia area. I volunteer at this amazing charity that is able to help thousands of kids each year.

I live at 1255 Turnbury Lane (in a tudor style house) and will be placing a bin on my driveway by my garage for donations of new or used shoes, boots, sneakers, and sandals (infant/childsizes 0–13 and youth/adult sizes 1–12).

If you would prefer, I will come and pick up the shoes up at your house. Just email me at brendancantos@gmail.com or my mom at ischermcan@comcast.net.

Thanks very much to all of my fantastic neighbors! I appreciate your help and look forward to hearing back from you as I want to try to collect as many shoes as possible!!

From,

Brendan Cantos

Carol,

Would you kindly share this information with anyone in the neighborhood looking for a piano teacher?  My son has studied with Joanne Prescott of Upper Dublin for almost 10 years.  We have been extremely pleased with Joanne.  My son didn't start taking lessons until he was 11.  With Joanne's help, he was able to progress to the point where he successfully auditioned for lessons at Dartmouth College and now is a music minor there.  Because of Joanne's emphasis on composition, my son was able to include a CD of his original piano compositions as part of his college applications.  I would highly recommend Joanne.  Anyone interested in more information should contact me at (215) 699-8137 or Joanne Prescott directly at (215) 643-3582.

Thanks so much, Carol!

Sincerely,
Nancy Smith

Dear Neighbors,
I am sure by now you are aware of the abundance of weeds and dead shrubs along the sound walls/barriers of 202. In addition, several large 202 signs have been stationed within our neighborhood along Hancock as you exit the development. Linda Callegari and I have been in touch with Larry Comunale, the township manager, requesting a neighborhood meeting with the township and PENNDOT. In particular we want to discuss the landscaping/contract along the sound wall/barriers and obtain information about the anticipated impact of traffic on our neighborhood prior to the opening of the highway.

In response to this request, Mr. Comunale just informed us that the township thought it was a good idea and is coordinating these efforts through Kate Harper's office. We emphasized that we want this meeting to occur in a timely fashion before the contractor completes the work this fall.

We certainly want to make sure that promises are kept for nice landscaping/ivy along the sound wall, including regular maintenance to make it aesthetically more acceptable. We have been informed that PENNDOT will address the completion of plants with a 1 year guarantee and weeding this fall, but said they are not under a contract to continue with maintenace.   In addition, we want to have them address safety issues to our neighborhood including minimizing outside traffic. This situation affects as all. We will let you know  when the meeting is scheduled and hope we have a strong attendance. If you have any questions or suggestions in the meantime, let's use the Gwynedd Knoll email  as our sounding board.
Sincerely,
Gwen Douse
