neighborhood news

Dear neighbors,
Hope you are enjoying your summer and managing to stay cool in the very hot weather. I have two different messages below...one regarding "free granite countertops" (yes, I typed that correctly) and the other another warning about security in the neighborhood. Some neighbors of mine had a real scare recently - please remember to call the police if you see anything or anyone suspicious - and lock up your cars at night!

On a lighter note: the Pennypacker Mills park is hosting an event this weekend. They are always lots of fun...take your family and have a good time! Check on the website for details.
"In the Good Old Summertime"
event at Pennypacker Mills
Saturday, August 6th 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hi, Carol.
Would you mind sending the following pictures to the neighbors to see if anyone is interested in our master bathroom countertops?  We are changing the color scheme in our bathroom and do not want the current countertops in the landfill because they are in perfect condition.
If anyone is interested they can email me at fkaminsk@yahoo.com or call us at 215-699-2925 for further details.
Thanks.
Frank Kaminsky

From Marylou on corner of Tanglewood and Cambridge:
I don't know if you had heard yet, but we had an incident at our house last night.  At about 4:00 a.m. we were awakened by incredible noise - our front doorknocker being "knocked" very hard - it sounded like someone was going to break the door down.  It was really frightening - my husband and I  both jumped out of bed and my husband immediately hit the "Panic" code on our alarm system so it went off and I'm assuming, scared away the pranksters (I'm not sure what else to call them).  The police came, looked around and didn't see anyone - I'm sure when they heard the alarm they ran.  They had thrown broken eggs on the front stoop but fortunately no other damage.
The police came back this morning to talk to us and told us that 1409 Tanglewood was also hit - and with much more damage.  They had large rocks thrown through their garage window, damaging their car, and another large rock thrown through their garage door.  I'm not sure if there was any other damage.  The police said the homeowners did not call last night but they said today they did hear something.
I just wanted to be sure you knew this - and the police officers all encouraged us and all our neighbors to please call them if anything in the neighborhood looks strange - cars that don't belong, people who don't seem quite right, etc. The police also said, even if a someone in the neighborhood has something as simple as a flat tire - don't assume it's innocent - call them to take a look.  They said they have "loads of time", for the most  part, to follow up on such things and any help we can give, can maybe prevent such things from happening.  They also suggested leaving outside lights on at night.
