neighborhood news

Dear neighbors,
1. See below for a note from Bill Wanger about the closing of the Gwynedd post office. Some people in the neighborhood have post office boxes there - this will be a big change. If you have an opinion, there will be a meeting held on March 3rd.

2. Eva O'Brien is looking for a This End Up brand desk or bookshelf or dresser or trundle. She is working to help a family in our school system. Please call her at 215-661-8764 if you have furniture to contribute. Thank you!

3. Please see the attached flyer about the annual progressive dinner on March 26. You should respond to Fran Margolis or the other emails listed if you can come. The format is new and different...please come out and reacquaint yourself with your neighbors! Not much cooking involved this time....just wine tasting and appetizers and dessert. Hope to see you there!

Subject: Item for Gwynedd Knoll Blog - Letter from USPS re Intended Closure of Gwynedd Post Office; Foulkeways Position
To: Gwynedd Knoll Blogger <gwyneddknoll@gmail.com>

Background:  As many of you know, the US Post Office issued a letter dated 2/15/2011, stating the intent of the USPS to close the Gwynedd Post Office (19436).  No timetable has been given.  If carried out, Post Office Box holders will need to move their boxes to the Spring House or another branch (although they can continue to use the "Gwynedd " designation as their mailing address).  A public meeting with postal representatives regarding the proposed closure is scheduled for 3/3/2011 at the LGT Building, from 6 - 7 p.m.  Please let me know if you want to see a copy of the USPS letter.

Foulkeways Position:  I have spoken with the CEO of Foulkeways about the matter.  As of this date, Foulkeways does not intend to oppose the closure (viewing it as inevitable).  FYI:  Foulkeways intends to convert the building that would have served as the relocated post office into visitor apartments.
