Dear Neighbors,

Our small group has been focusing on the impending construction of our section of the Rt. 202 parkway, known as 65N. This is the part of section 200 which runs just south of Hancock Road to where it connects with section 700 up at Rt. 63. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall and in preparation they must move the existing utilities to ensure that no loss of service is had.

You will note that they have begun removing landscaping to our side of 202 which is in the right of way. We will also eventually be getting sound barriers as construction commenses on to the next phases.

Our group met with the Supervisors about 2 years ago to discuss our concerns with traffic cutting through our neighborhood during the construction of the parkway. The Township agreed that they would put up a temporary "porkchop," if you will...essentially barricades on our side of Hancock so that drivers may not turn left into our neighborhood from 202 south and the traffic on the other side of Hancock could not drive straight across to our side. Further, we will only be able to turn right into our  neighborhood going north bound. Penndot has not established a timetable to complete the widening down to Sumneytown Pike so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that when the traffic is stopped, many cars will look for shortcuts to get around the stand-still traffic. We feel our neighborhood will be non-stop traffic, especially at morning and evening rush hour. Without knowledge about the completion to Sumneytown Pike, we do not know how long this bad situation will continue.

We have requested a meeting with the Township Supervisors, Penndot and their project manager so that they can present us with an update on their schedule, plans and to answer all of our questions. This will occur during a regularly scheduled Supervisors meeting. The date is May 25th at the Twp. Bldg at 7:30 pm.

I encourage you all to attend and ask lots of questions. It's your opportunity to get answers and clarification on this huge issue that affects our neighborhood. Whether you live on a main street or a side street, you will be affected.

Also, please sign up on the Penndot website for updates and e-newsletters on section 200 and 65N. It's a great way to see how the entire parkway is being constructed and where we are in all of this.

Hope to see you all there...

 Regards,

 Linda Callegari
