Dear Friends & Neighbors: Below are two short news articles from the Lower Gwynedd/Whitpain/Ambler Patch that indicate that there has been a recent spree of robberies in the area... both residences & businesses. Please remind everyone to lock home windows and cars. We should all be keeping an eye out for unknown cars or people in the neighborhood and call the police when concerned. I've done it and they do stop the people and talk to them. I'd rather have suspicious people checked out than to think after a robbery that I should have called.
Two lower level residences in the Georgetown community in Lower Gwynedd Township were burglarized while vacant early Monday evening.
In the one residence, entry was gained by forcibly opening the front door, and the apartment was ransacked. In the other, entry to the apartment was gained through an open rear window and only small items were taken. There were also a eight reports of thefts from vehicles overnight on Monday that occurred in the Spring House and Ambler sections of the township. Police are unsure if the thefts are related to the residential burglaries. Anyone with information on the burglaries or on the thefts from vehicles are asked to call the Lower Gwynedd Police Department at 215-646-5303.
In the early morning hours of July 10, four Lower Gwynedd businesses were broken into. All four businesses, Valley Green Flowers and Gifts, Cigars Unlimited, Fast Twitch Training, Inc; and Spring House Tavern, are located on North Bethlehem Pike in the township. According to the Lower Gwynedd Police, the Cigars Unlimited surveillance footage from 2:30 a.m. on July 10, showed a white male or light skin black male, reaching across the counter while partially through the window to remove the cash register. Police said the footage shows the male wearing gloves and is wearing something to cover his head and face. At Spring House Tavern, surveillance footage from 2:40 a.m. on July 10, shows two subjects enter a rear window. In total the police are reporting that the subjects stole a Nokia cell phone and the cash box with $200 from Valley Green Flowers and Gifts; the cash register containing approximately $4 in change from Cigars Unlimited; $60 from the cash register at Fast Twitch Training; and nothing was reported missing at Spring House Tavern.

Roadwork Continues Next Week for New Route 202 Parkway
King of Prussia - Construction is scheduled for next week to improve and restore roads in Montgomery and Bucks counties as crews work to complete the Route 202 Parkway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.
The new 8.4-mile, $200 million state-funded Parkway is scheduled to open this fall to improve travel between Montgomeryville and Doylestown.
Crews are scheduled to resurface the widened intersection of Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Lower Gwynedd, Upper Gwynedd and Montgomery townships, Montgomery County, and restore left turn lanes at the intersection. Weather permitting, crews will resurface and paint lines at the intersection on Monday (July 16) from 7 p.m. to approximately midnight, an operation that will result in nighttime travel delays on both roads.
Road construction also may cause occasional lane restrictions Monday through Friday (July 16-20) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Swedesford and Knapp roads, and on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between Stump and North Wales roads.
The ongoing installation of traffic signal components will cause periodic lane closures at intersections along Route 202 (Butler Avenue/Doylestown Road) between Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery Township and Route 611 in Doylestown Township on Monday through Thursday (July 16-19) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Similar improvements to traffic signals on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery County may cause lane closures Monday through Thursday (July 16-19) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between the Five Points intersection in Montgomery Township and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Lower Gwynedd Township.
Periodic lane closures will occur for guiderail installation on southbound Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) north of the Five Points intersection on Monday through Thursday (July 16-19) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
New Britain Road in Doylestown Township, Bucks County remains closed through late August as PennDOT rebuilds and improves a section of the road between Sunset View Drive and Rolling Hill Boulevard.
Area motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
